Step through the looking glass at the Museum of the City of New York on July 11th for the Alice of Wonderland Family Festival — an exclusive, VIP event for NYC Health + Hospitals staff and their families! Explore Alice’s journey through New York in a day filled with family-friendly artmaking, activity stations, and musical performances. Finish the day by joining a Children’s Mad Hatter parade through the Museum.

Timed Activities

9 AM – 10 AM | Special Viewing Hour

The Museum will open its doors early to NYC Health + Hospitals employees and their families. Enjoy the magic of the Museum’s exhibitions in a more intimate way with your family and colleagues before it opens to the public. 

9 AM – 10:30 AM | Welcome Breakfast

Enjoy a complimentary breakfast provided by East Harlem’s family-owned bakery Pabade Bakery. Pre-registration required.

HHart of Medicine Gallery Tour and Artmaking

Join in for an inquiry-based conversation in the Museum’s new exhibition, Another Wonderland, followed by an art activity led by one of our very own Licensed Creative Arts Therapists (LCAT). Pre-registration strongly encouraged to guarantee your seat. Tours are approximately one hour in length.

11 AM – 11:20 AM & 12:00 – 12:00 PM | Musical Performances

Clap, sing, and move along at this lively, family-friendly musical performance, where catchy tunes, interactive moments, and joyful rhythms invite audiences of all ages to join in the fun.

12:40 PM – 1:00 PM | Mad Hatter Parade

Grab your Mad Hat and join the whimsical parade through the Museum—then keep the celebration going with music, movement, and dancing to a lively, family-friendly band! 

Drop-in Activities 

9 AM – 12:30 PM

  • Mad Hat Making: Design and decorate your own whimsical Wonderland-inspired hat using colorful craft materials, ribbons, stickers, and imaginative accessories. 
  • Teacup Decoration: Decorate teacup and teapot-inspired art pieces using wooden stencils and decorative art materials. In this Wonderland-inspired activity, teacups are adorned with bright colors, patterns, and other motifs from the exhibition. 
  • Card Soldier Creation: Create your own card soldier inspired by classic playing card suits worn by characters featured in artist Abram Champanier’s mural. Draw, decorate, cut, and assemble your custom character using cardstock templates and art supplies. 
  • Polaroid Photo Station: Gather your loved ones and create your own family tableau to remember the festival using Wonderland-inspired props!

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM

  • Another Wonderland Puzzle Station: Explore art in a whole new way at our Puzzle Station, where children and families can piece together two artworks featured in Another Wonderland. Available for purchase in the Museum Shop on the 1st floor. 

Additional Perks

  • NYC Health + Hospitals employees will receive a 15% off discount in the Museum Shop, located on the Museum’s first floor on the day of the program.

  • Amy's Bread at Chalsty's Café will have an Another Wonderland cookie available for purchase on the Museum's second floor.
